About us

Local Government Authority for the Borough of Brentwood, Essex. The Borough of Brentwood is situated in the southwest of Essex and is a pleasant, busy town conveniently situated for London, the surrounding countryside and villages. Brentwood has a good mix of shops, schools, businesses and recreational facilities. The Borough is located within the Metropolitan Green Belt, with the heart of the town only minutes away from pleasant woods, commons and rights of way. Apart from its urban heart, the Borough of Brentwood has about 3,000 acres (about 1,215 hectares) of woodland, three country parks, a large amount of farmland and a number of very attractive villages within its borders, yet it is only 18 miles from London. Road and rail connections are excellent with the M25, A12 and A127 trunk roads within the Borough and convenient, fast rail links with London and East Anglia. Stansted, City and Southend airports are all 30 to 40 minutes drive away, with Heathrow and Gatwick airports not much more. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 Happy 50th Birthday Rochford District Council and Brentwood Borough Council 🎉🎉. On 1st April 1974, under the Local Government Act 1972, the Borough of Brentwood and District of Rochford, in South Essex, were created as two councils. 50yrs on we are still two sovereign councils but have a unique arrangement where we share an officer team, to support both councils, in delivering services and priorities for our places. A big thank you to all our employees, councillors and stakeholders for continually delivering services, against the backdrop of the financial challenges facing local government, to provide great places for our residents and businesses. 👏👏👏👏 #localgovernment #LGA1974 #Birthday🎉🎉

Artwork created by Willowbrook and St Joseph the Worker Primary School pupils around sustainability and homes of the future is the main feature of newly installed hoardings surrounding Brentwood Borough Council’s first zero carbon development at Brookfield Close in Hutton. This was the first in a series of projects led by the Council’s Strategic Housing Development team, which aims to make sure that young people have meaningful involvement in placemaking and shaping the future of affordable housing and environments where they live. Last week, our CEO Jonathan Stephenson, Cllr Dr Tim Barrett and Paulette McAllister went along to see the creative artwork on the hoardings around the Brookfield Close site ahead of work starting to prepare the site for construction, with main works commencing in the summer.

🔊 Some thoughts on a community digital hub launch today in collaboration with Digital Essex, Brentwood Borough Council, supported by Kenny Wood at Mind Bicycle 💪 ❤️ Very emotional, I hugged and was hugged, I heard and was listened to, I cried and provided tissues for other people but mostly I am so proud of the impactful work we're doing in digital inclusion. More to come on this 🙏👌 #MDLS #digitalinclusion #flackthink
