We’re sharing insights from our 2023 Impact Report, focusing on one of our core initiatives: Electrifying Buildings and Transportation. Let's dive into some key highlights: In Europe, RAP's expertise helped drive the adoption of groundbreaking regulations mandating smart charging infrastructure for #EVs. This move promises reduced costs for consumers, better access to public charging, and improved #renewableenergy use. https://lnkd.in/ewwScFqv Meanwhile, in Texas, bipartisan legislation informed by RAP's Roadmap for Electric Transportation ensures equitable access to EV charging, with provisions for functional charging stations statewide. Crucial steps toward fulfilling climate commitments. https://lnkd.in/e99A4Nnp Shifting gears, RAP's impact on #heatpump adoption has been noticeable. In Europe, our thought leadership informed policymakers in France, Poland, & the UK, guiding them on crucial issues like performance in cold weather & affordability for vulnerable households. https://lnkd.in/dWHSA9PH Momentum in heat pump uptake owes much to collaborative efforts like the Heat Pump Toolkit, which RAP developed with partners like CLASP and Global Buildings Performance Network (GBPN). https://lnkd.in/exgrSrMP In the United States, RAP and CLASP’s efforts underscore the importance of robust state policies in tandem with federal funding through the Inflation Reduction Act. Clean heat policies and emissions standards will complement IRA funding. https://lnkd.in/ea7YU58Q From smart charging to heat pump adoption, RAP's Impact Report showcases the power of informed policymaking in driving sustainable energy transitions. Stay tuned! Next week, we'll explore encouraging distributed energy resources (#DERs). https://lnkd.in/ewwScFqv

EV Smart Charging & V2G | Demand-side Flexibility | Policy, Regulation & Innovation | Independent Advisor
A great and insightful article on European developments in bi-directional charging / #V2G from an Australian perspective. It's written by Jon Sibley of enX consulting, who led the work on this recent Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) report on network tariffs for vehicle-to-grid: https://lnkd.in/etCuBDFr It's great to see carmakers working on standardisation to ensure that - after an initial phase with selected hardware and energy partners to learn and smooth the user experience - an open ecosystem is established. This will allow users to choose the bi-directional charging system that works best for them, not only with their new EV, but also with their next one. For bi-directional charging to be successful as vehicle to grid, the regulatory landscape needs to be in the right shape: for example, equal market access for distributed energy resources, and ensuring that the right granular price signals are in place to align user and system benefits. The above report on network tariffs is one that I strongly recommend to a European audience of regulators and policy makers. Jon's The Driven article also mentions the 50 Honda E's used for car sharing & grid services in Switzerland. Tune in today at 15:00 CET for first-hand insights from this V2X Suisse project by Stefan Doerig and Aby Chacko from tiko Energy Solutions : https://lnkd.in/eNqh7srX I'll introduce the webinar by highlighting our Regulatory Assistance Project (RAP) principles to guide the development of bi-directional charging technology towards beneficial V2G: https://lnkd.in/eg7A_gzY The first principle, building trust and establishing common standards, is illustrated by the examples in this article.
Major car makers are rolling out V2G plans this year. Is Australia ready?

Much of Ukraine's energy infrastructure has been destroyed or damaged. This means a huge effort is required for rebuilding it whilst also transitioning to clean energy. But how can this be done? My colleague Monika Morawiecka at the Regulatory Assistance Project (RAP) has some answers in her new Euractiv article. https://lnkd.in/enJ3n4hD
It will take an energy transition to keep the lights on in Ukraine

We’re exploring insights from the RAP 2023 Impact Report! Today, we’re looking at decarbonizing the grid, a primary objective at RAP. Here's a glimpse of the transformative initiatives we were a part of last year. https://lnkd.in/ewwScFqv RAP supported governments globally to create market environments that accelerate #decarbonization by incentivizing beneficial behaviors. Our insights shaped policy decisions for renewable energy uptake and consumer protection all over the world. In Europe, RAP played a pivotal role in advising electricity market reforms, focusing on integrating renewables and safeguarding consumers. In India, our market design ideas informed policymakers, while in the U.S., we supported the West-Wide Governance Pathways Initiative. https://lnkd.in/ecenbNYE In Brazil, we embarked on a crucial project to expand clean energy access in the rural Amazon. Despite significant progress in electrification, many remote communities still lack reliable power. Our ideas for distributed technologies aim to accelerate electrification and make clean energy accessible to all. RAP's recommendations in Brazil seek to reduce diesel dependency, lower costs, and enhance energy reliability in remote areas. We've detailed our findings and recommendations in our recent Roadmap publication. https://lnkd.in/e-2Cmscx In China, there have been significant reductions in renewable curtailment over a 10-year period, fostering the integration of wind and solar energy into the grid. Aggressive curtailment reduction targets and new electricity market implementations have unlocked the full potential of China's renewable energy capacity. From driving market reforms to expanding clean energy access and unlocking wind and solar potential, RAP's impact resonates globally. Look to this space for next week's exploration of electrifying buildings and transportation.
