U.S. EXPORT SALES FOR WEEK ENDING 5/9/2024

Hides and Skins:  Net sales of 417,500 pieces for 2024 were up 62 percent from the previous week and 1 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were primarily for China (244,500 whole cattle hides, including decreases of 14,600 pieces), South Korea (74,400 whole cattle hides, including decreases of 700 pieces), Mexico (63,800 whole cattle hides, including decreases of 600 pieces), Thailand (25,100 whole cattle hides, including decreases of 1,500 pieces), and Italy (4,300 whole cattle hides, including decreases of 600 pieces). Exports of 315,100 pieces were down 27 percent from the previous week and 19 percent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hides exports were primarily to China (187,600 pieces), Mexico (44,400 pieces), South Korea (32,400 pieces), Thailand (26,400 pieces), and Brazil (13,600 pieces).

Net sales of 136,900 wet blues for 2024 were up 63 percent from the previous week and 13 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases primarily for Vietnam (45,300 unsplit, including decreases of 300 unsplit), Thailand (42,000 unsplit), China (29,700 unsplit), Brazil (8,000 unsplit), and Taiwan (6,800 unsplit), were offset by reductions for Italy (200 unsplit). Exports of 120,900 wet blues were down 13 percent from the previous week and 9 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to Vietnam (52,500 unsplit), Italy (25,100 unsplit and 2,100 grain splits), China (16,900 unsplit), Thailand (14,700 unsplit), and Hong Kong (7,000 unsplit). Total net sales of 36,600 splits, including decreases of 500 pounds were for Vietnam. Exports of 82,900 splits were to China (44,000 pounds) and Vietnam (38,900 pounds).
